Adobe's AI Tool Lets You Generate and Precisely Edit Music with Just Text

QUICK ZAPS

Major updates to audio editing tools from software giant Adobe were announced this week that utilize generative AI capabilities. Project Music GenAI Control allows users to generate custom music from text prompts like "happy dance" or "sad jazz" by feeding inputs into an AI model.

But what makes these tools truly revolutionary is that they don't stop at generation - creators can then precisely edit that auto-generated audio. With a simple interface, elements like tempo, structure, intensity and more can be transformed. Loops can even be extended seamlessly.

This could help solve major workflow pain points for those needing custom audio beds, intros, outros and more. As Adobe Research scientist Nicholas Bryan puts it, "Instead of manually cutting existing music, our tools can help users create exactly what they need end-to-end."

Adobe has long experience in AI innovation through tools like Photoshop's image generation. Now their new audio tools could provide music and podcast makers with the same "pixel-level control," giving a whole new dimension of creativity to sound design. The tools are still in development but aim to change how professionals and hobbyists alike approach audio production.
